The Los Angeles Angels are never going to be the same after Tyler Skaggs departed from our presence much too early. But life, and the show, as they say, must go on. And the Angels made sure to put on one heck of one of those on Friday night, blanking the Seattle Mariners 13-0 and throwing a combined no-hitter as a tribute to the pitcher in their first home game since his unfortunate passing.
Taylor Cole began the affair on the mound, going seven innings and striking out six before handing the ball over to Felix Pena, who would complete the job without allowing a hit. Mike Trout gave his own tribute as well, smacking a two-run homer in the bottom of the first on the very first pitch he saw… all the while wearing Skaggs’ jersey. It will be a long, long time until things get normal again for some, but this night, this night will be remembered for an eternity as a special night for baseball, and most importantly, family.
