Athletes Who Protested The National Anthem

On literally the same day Trump made his remarks, Bruce Maxwell of the Oakland Athletics became the first Major League Baseball player to kneel during the anthem.

Maxwell is an African American who comes from a military family. To make sure there wasn’t any confusion that he supported our troops and the flag, he placed his cap and hand across his chest.
