Athletes Who Protested The National Anthem

On August 26, 2016, Niners Nation’s Jennifer Lee Chan tweeted a photo of the 49ers and Green Bay Packers during the national anthem. In the tweet, she didn’t even notice that Kaepernick was sitting, but rather referenced the 49ers’ formation during the anthem, joking that it wasn’t Coach Jeff Fisher approved.

The photo soon went viral once people noticed Kaepernick, in uniform, sitting during the anthem.
