Coming into Thursday night’s game, the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team had not lost in their last 98 appearances at home. They were always going to be put to the test by the Baylor Bears, though, and in the end, that streak came to an end. And comfortably, too, with the Bears pulling away to win 74-58, as the hosts only managed to score six points in the fourth and final quarter.
The streak that the Huskies had been on stretched back to March of 2013. It was the first loss of the season for them as well, meaning they will surely drop from the #1 ranking and that Baylor (also 12-1 now) will have a say in who gets put in that place in their stead. Tea Cooper led all scorers for the visitors with 27 in the win, while Christyn Williams had 21 in the defeat.
