Celtics Take Game 7 Over Wizards 115-105, Advance to Eastern Conference Finals

Coming into last night’s game seven, neither team had won a game on the road during this series. The same pattern prevailed last night as the Celtics took home game seven behind surprising performances from role players.

Celtics forward Kelly Olynyk had arguably one of the best performances of his career. He netted 26 points, five rebounds and four assists. Olynyk did everything he needed to do for the Celtics last night. He rebounded, bodied the big men of Washington and had one of the best scoring performances in his NBA career. This performance from Olynyk was the difference maker in this game and allowed the Celtics to live another day.

As for the Wizards, they have yet another early exit from the playoffs. This year, more than ever, everyone was predicting that the Wizards were the favorites to make it to the Eastern Conference finals. They were widely considered the team that had the best shot at taking down LeBron James. Now, however, this prediction has proven to be wrong.

Bradley Beal led the way for Washington with 38 points while John Wall totaled 18 points and 11 assists. These performances simply were not enough for the Wizards in this game. The Celtics just had a bit more left in the tank going down the stretch and their supporting cast outperformed Washington’s.

This Wizards team is one player away from being a championship contender. They have two star guards in Wall and Beal while also having a strong front court in Otto Porter Jr. and Markieff Morris. The best part about his team is they are all very young while Wall is hitting his prime as we speak.

All they need is someone to play the three spot. With players such as Gordon Hayward, Jimmy Butler and Paul George entering free agency this offseason, they have the chance to acquire a player that could make them a championship level team. The best fit for them would be Butler as he is a very big and physical forward who can also step back and hit a three.
