If the Indianapolis Colts aren’t totally out of luck, they could be the NFL season starts in just over three weeks after GM Chris Ballard stated that star quarterback Andrew Luck now had a problem with his upper ankle. Luck had previously been dealing with a calf injury, but now it seems to have moved, either by strain or because it’s effectively a new injury.
The former Stanford QB has not been practicing like they would want him to and it’s been made clear that he will be missing all of the preseason games. At this point, the Colts will just be hoping that they can get him healthy for the regular season, especially seeing as how he helped lead them to the playoffs in comeback fashion last year. One thing is clear after Ballard’s media talk: they will play him if he’s less than 100%. But only if he’s “functional.”
