The Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers, and St. Louis Cardinals are caught up in a tough battle in the NL Central right now, where every game matters. That certainly proved to be the case, at least the Cubs will hope, on Sunday as the Cubs closed out a series sweep by overcoming the Brewers by a score of 7-2 at Wrigley Field.
They didn’t get off the best start, allowing Christian Yelich to homer in the top of the first. But Jason Heyward leveled it up with a homer in the bottom half, before tripling in a run in the second and batting one more in. Yu Darvish settled down and only gave up that solo shot to Yelich in his five innings, allowing the Cubs to skate away and lock up the win. In doing so, they are now 1.5 games ahead of the Cardinals and four ahead of Brewers in the division.
