If it weren’t for the NFL’s salary cap, you would have to believe that none of this would be taking place right now. Jerry Jones would have given massive extensions to all three of his stars looking for one: Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper, and Ezekiel Elliott. Alas, there is one, though, and because of that, the Dallas Cowboys’ owner knows all too well he has to stay within in it.
Well, at least that was his latest excuse for not tying up Elliott and getting him back into camp as a result. Jones did make one valid point when he said that he gave up DeMarcus Ware back in 2013 only to see the defensive end win the Super Bowl, so it only makes sense that he doesn’t want to overextend too much to keep his strong offensive core together.
