If the Mayor of Oakland, Libby Schaaf, is correct, then there is some big news coming out of Oakland. According to the mayor, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, a controversial figure to people in various parts of the country, informed the city that the Athletics club could be seeking a move to Las Vegas had the city tried to block the team from purchasing their Oakland stadium from the County.
It’s a tangled mess, but at the end of the day what is important is that Oakland are far from interested in letting the A’s move out of town like the Raiders did. Especially if they end up in Las Vegas. Whether or not any of it would truly be feasible is still up in the air, but it would be more than interesting to see how an MLB club would function in Las Vegas. You’d have to think they’d win regularly at home, that’s for sure.
