Over the past week, calls for Major League Baseball to put netting up around just about the whole of the foul lines have been coming in from near and far. Players, pundits, and fans alike have all expressed their opinions.
But once again, MLB seems hellbent upon staying in their old, unhelpful ways, with commissioner Rob Manfred claiming that he does not expect clubs to put up new netting during the middle of the season. Manfred didn’t just reject the idea to be fair, no, but it’s disturbing that a business that makes this much money can’t do more to protect innocent bystanders. It will be interesting to see where this goes, because the conversations will not stop anytime soon.
