It’s not every day of the week that you see a basketball player score 50 or more points. It’s even more rare to see it occur in college. But that’s what took place on Friday as Marquette guard Marcus Howard dropped 51 on USC at the Orlando Invitational in a 101-79 win.
In so doing, he became the third player in college basketball history to do it in three straight seasons, joining the likes of ‘Pistol’ Pete Maravich and Wayman Tisdale. He now has 40-plus points in consecutive games as well, an astonishing feat to be sure.
