Josef Martinez hit the ground running in MLS when he jointed Atlanta United over two years ago now. He’s broken all kinds of records, most notably taking the mantle for most hat tricks in league history and scoring the most goals ever in scored in one season last year.
This season, he has once again surged to a record, this time scoring in ten games in a row to hand him that distinction. He did so in a 2-1 win over New York City FC on Sunday, helping to take his team to a share of first in the Eastern Conference as a result. The Venezuelan, who was a doubt to play due to injury, now has 20 goals this season, with 15 of them coming in his last ten. He’s on fire at the moment, and Atlanta are prospering because of it.
