After seeing his Argentina team once again come up short in the Copa America earlier this summer, Lionel Messi decided to take his anger out upon South American soccer’s governing body, CONMEBOL, labeling the organization as ‘corrupt’ following a red card in the tournament.
As a result of that, the sentence leveled at him is a harsh and severe one, and it will mean he will not be suiting up for his nation anytime in the next three months. The good news is twofold. One, he can appeal the decision. And two, none of the matches he is due to missed are competitive, with all of them set to be friendlies. His future with the team is already clouded, and this could well end his tenure altogether.
