Newton Sprains Left Ankle

Jonathan Grant | August 23rd, 2019

The NFL preseason is all about two things: individual performances and assessments and making sure that your key players are both ready to go and remain injury-free. Unfortunately for the Carolina Panthers, their star quarterback Cam Newton did not manage to get through Thursday night’s game with the New England Patriots unscathed.

After a sack in the first quarter, Newton left the game with a left ankle sprain. At the moment, not much more is known about the severity of the injury, and there isn’t a firm timetable. One thing to their detriment is that he has already had the ankle repaired back in 2014. He had only just returned to the lineup after having a shoulder surgery in the off season. He has missed the opener before as well, doing so in 2014 due to an injury against… the Patriots.
