It’s not everyday that someone scores 40 points in the NBA. And it’s definitely not happening all that often to someone that’s not an automatic All-Star selection. Yet that’s exactly what took place on Monday night for Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans. After shaking off a head injury, he came out and shot 17 of 24 from the field, with just three of those points coming from behind the three-point line.
In the end, however, his performance was not enough to lead them past the Brooklyn Nets, who ended up winning it 135-125 in the end. Kyrie Irving had a point less than Ingram, 39, and also had nine assists as they held on despite a late run by the Pelicans to try and get it close. The Nets are now 3-4, while the Pelicans are just 1-6, with no wins as of yet on the road.
