After many transgressions and much folly this summer, of which we won’t repeat again, Antonio Brown is no longer an Oakland Raider. In fact, was he ever? The controversial wide receiver asked for and received his release on Saturday morning.
The Raiders, obviously, were happy to oblige him his request. Head coach Jon Gruden said he did all he could to make it work, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Later in the day, the drama was turned up a notch as it was announced that the New England Patriots were going to take a flier on the superstar on a one year deal said to be worth up to $15 million. He will not be eligible to join the likes of Julian Edelman and Josh Gordon until week two, so we might have a little bit of mercy in regards to news about him for a while.
