A lesser team would have let the drama surrounding departed Antonio Brown distract them from playing their best game, but that is not what happened to the Oakland Raiders in their opener on Monday night as they saw off the Denver Broncos 24-16 at home.
It got off to about as good of a start as it could, too, with Derek Carr leading the silver and black down the field for a touchdown on their opening drive of the season. A Josh Jacobs rushing TD made it 14-0 at the half-time interval before a couple of field goals were kicked by the Broncos in the third. The Raiders responded in the final quarter as Jacobs rushed for another score. Despite a late flurry of scoring, the Raiders were never in any real danger and held on comfortably to end a ridiculously crazy week and get off to a 1-0 start.
