Tickets Are Punched

Elsewhere, the Tennessee Volunteers defeated Kentucky in the SEC Tournament semis to likely place each of those teams as a #2 seed. The Vols had been atop the NCAA rankings for much of the season, but had some woes down the stretch. Nonetheless, they have a shot at the title on Sunday. Another notable result took place in the Big 12 Tournament as surprise package Iowa State, who went 9-9 in the regular season, won 78-66 over Kansas to punch their ticket to the NCAA’s.

It was largely done on the back of a strong first half performance that the Jayhawks could not overcome. Other teams to win their conference tournaments on Saturday included Villanova, Cincinnati, Buffalo, and Houston. On Sunday, Tennessee will play Auburn and Michigan will get rivals Michigan State in the SEC and Big 10 Tournament Championship games.
