We now now where the MLS Cup Final will be taking place this season. Much to a lot of people’s surprise, it will not be in Los Angeles or Atlanta, with both of those heavily favored teams falling by the wayside. Instead, it will be held in Seattle as the Sounders take on Toronto FC for the third time in four years, with experience and mettle proving to be the driving points.
Atlanta led after just four minutes when Julian Gressel scored and they had a chance to make it 2-0 before a penalty was saved by TFC ‘keeper Quentin Westberg made a big save. Minutes later, in the 14th, Nicolas Benezet tied it up at 1-1 with a fantastic goal. Toronto didn’t threaten much, and held on for much of the rest of the match, but Nick DeLeon scored a wonder goal with 12 minutes left that handed them the win and a trip to the Pacific Northwest for yet another Final appearance.
