The final two games of the first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs took place on Sunday, and for the second day in a row, they did not disappoint. The afternoon match up pitted the Philadelphia Union against the New York Red Bulls. Twice the Red Bulls had a two-goal lead, going up 0-2 and 1-3 on the road. But Philly kept fighting back and ended up pushing it into extra time, where Marco Fabian scored the winner to give them a first playoff victory and set up a clash in Atlanta on Thursday night.

In the late match of the evening, the Los Angeles Galaxy punched their ticket to an ‘El Trafico’ showdown with crosstown rivals LAFC thanks to a 1-2 win at Minnesota United. The Galaxy got two goals in the span of four second half minutes from Sebastian Lletget and Jonathan Dos Santos, and then held on when Jan Gregus gave MUFC a chance late on. The Galaxy were the only team that won on the road in the round, and they will hope they have some magic to knock out top seed LAFC on Thursday night.
