There is a new home run leader in the clubhouse, at least for the moment, and his name is Christian Yelich. After hitting two of them on Monday night in Pittsburgh against the Pirates, Yelich has increased his total to 39 on the season. He began by giving them nice platform to build from, homering in the top of the first.
He’s done that so many times this season. But the start of a game isn’t the only time Yelich comes through in. He’s also great in the closing stages, as he also demonstrated against the Bucs. His ninth inning homer, another solo shot, added an additional run of insurance at 9-6. Though Josh Hader would give up one run in the bottom half of the inning, it was still plenty for the Milwaukee Brewers to hold and take the victory. Mike Moustakas also had a solo homer for the Brew Crew. With the win, they remain four games back of the first-place Cubs in the NL Central. They are just 1.5 games behind the Cardinals.
