Baker Reaches 2000 Wins Milestone, Mets Sweep Braves In DH

Dusty Baker has been at it a long, long time in the game of baseball. But 2000 wins is still something to be proud of and make mention of. He earned that milestone on Tuesday evening when his Houston Astros took down the Seattle Mariners 4-0. The 72-year-old won his first game back in 1993 and has led five different teams, including his current one, to the postseason in addition to racking up 2000 wins.

In doing so, he became the 12th manager of all time to reach the landmark, making him one of the few in a very rare category. Yordan Alvarez and Jose Altuve each had solo home runs while rookie Jeremy Pena drove in two via a single to center. Another big couple of results took place on Tuesday in the NL East as the New York Mets bounced back from a defeat on Monday night by beating the defending World Series champion Atlanta Braves twice. They won 5-4 in the first of the two before recording a shutout in a 3-0 win in the nightcap to underline their credentials of making a deep run this campaign.
