Bam, Heat Take Game 1 In OT Against Celtics

The Miami Heat might have needed overtime and a little bit of a Bam Adebayo intervention to take Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Finals series with the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night, but they won’t mind too much. The 117-114 win means that they have the early advantage in the series and it continues what has been a nearly flawless run in the playoffs thus far.

They have played ten times and lost just once, to the Bucks, as they mow down opponents and speed toward the Finals. That is looking a distinct possibility due to the influence of Jimmy Butler. He posted 20 points here and was not the main scorer, but he demands so much from the team it’s impossible to not mention him. The block Bam Adebayo had, following Butler’s three-pointer, locked up the win. Goran Dragic led them in scoring with 29, while the Celtics had Jayson Tatum’s 30 to lead all scorers on the evening. It’s far from over, of course, but it’s a great start for the Heat here.
