It might have been the Playoffs, which don’t count in the Gold Glove race in Major League Baseball, but it still underlines just why Mookie Betts won his fifth consecutive award in 2020. That was announced on Tuesday, as he continued that streak after moving from American League Boston to the National League with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Betts made a number of highlight reel grabs in the playoffs, most notably to deny the Atlanta Braves, and as such, he helped propel them to a World Series. Anthony Rizzo also kept up an impressive streak of wins, taking home his fourth at first base. Nolan Arenado, who is a free agent, was able to take his eighth thus far, though this is likely to be the final one in Colorado colors. Alex Gordon also nabbed his eighth Gold Glove, while 11 first-timers made the list.
