One thing that is supposedly going to happen in the 2020 MLB season is that the Cleveland Indians are going to have a ‘free ride’ due to an easy schedule relatively speaking.
While that may or may not prove to be the case, they showed they do have an excellent ace on the mound on Friday night against the Kansas City Royals. Shane Bieber, an All-Star Game MVP, would strike out 14 hitters on the evening in a 2-0 shutout win. He now holds the record for most strikeouts on opening day without giving up a run, passing names like Bob Gibson and Lon Warneke. Not bad at all for someone that was considered to be the #5 guy to begin last season, is it?
