The Toronto (Buffalo) Blue Jays got formally acquainted with their new home stadium on Tuesday night, and things went pretty well for them in their first outing in their new environment. Unable to play at home in Canada, they got off to a fine start with a 5-4 win over the previously surging Miami Marlins. An early home run had them behind 1-0, but they got a home run from Bo Bichette to put them up 3-1 in the sixth and a single from Cavan Biggio to extend the lead.
However, they conceded a three-run homer in the top of the ninth to Francisco Cervelli that set it into extra innings. No problem, though, as they would take advantage of the new rules and win it in the bottom of the tenth when Travis Shaw singled to drive in the winning run. Not a bad start for a team in a new ball park.
