Braves Hang On, Take Game 2 From Dodgers

Jonathan Grant | October 14th, 2020

The Atlanta Braves were strolling after seven innings of their Game 2 NLCS match up with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night. Up 7-0 after the top of the seventh, it looked like they would easily take a 2-0 edge heading into Wednesday night’s third game. Only it wasn’t so easy. Corey Seagar hit a three-run home run in the bottom half of the frame to give them some hope, only for Atlanta to tack on an additional run via Ozzie Albies’ homer in the top of the ninth.

The fireworks weren’t over, though, as the Dodgers got four runs via a Seagar double, Max Muncy homer, and a Cody Bellinger triple off of Josh Tomlin and Mike Melancon. However, that Albies homer would hold up in the end, with Melancon sealing the deal for the Braves, ending the scoring at 8-7. Freddie Freeman was a big factor early in the going for Atlanta, hitting a two-run blast in the fourth and later having a single to drive in another run in the fifth, part of a four-run haul in that inning. The Dodgers now have an even bigger hole to dig their way out of as a result, but they do have a tiny bit of momentum now, at least.
