The Milwaukee Brewers are officially the hottest team in baseball… for now, of course. The Brew Crew have won nine of their last ten games and they took their fifth straight win on Tuesday night against the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 5-1 in Cincy. Avisail Garcia was the hero at the plate, homering a solo shot in the top of the fourth to tie the game at one apiece before he drove in another run later on via a single.
A two-run double by Travis Shaw in the ninth gave them more cushion and Christian Yelich had gotten the other run in when he was doubled up in the fifth. Starter Adrian Houser went five and 1/3 innings and gave up just a single run and five hits. After he turned the ball over, the Brew Crew’s four pitchers only combined to give up a solitary hit, suffocating the Reds out of it. The win saw Milwaukee move to 34-26 overall, keeping them a half-game up on Chicago for the NL Central lead. The Reds, 28-30, are five games off the pace.
