Bucs Open NFL Season With Seesaw Win Over Cowboys

Jonathan Grant | September 10th, 2021

The 2021 NFL season is underway, and what a start we got on Thursday night between the defending champs Tampa Bay and the Dallas Cowboys. Both teams had their bright spots and both also had their lowlights as the two traded blows until the very end when the Super Bowl champs came out on top 31-29. Tom Brady ended up throwing for four touchdowns and 379 yards on 32-50 passing. He also had two interceptions as well. His counterpart, Dak Prescott, threw for over 400 yards as he chucked the ball 58 times.

He finished with three TD tosses and an interception. Antonio Brown of the Bucs had 121 yards and a TD to his name while Amari Cooper eclipsed him with a 13-catch night that saw him rack up 139 yards and two touchdowns to his name in a losing effort. Tampa led 21-16 at the half only for the Cowboys to come back and take control with a minute and a half to go when Greg Zuerlein made a field goal to put them ahead 29-28. Brady and co. didn’t waste much time, though, as they went right down the field and set up Ryan Succop from 36 yards to win the contest at begin 1-0 in front of their home fans. It’s always great to start 1-0, but there were a lot of positives coming from this for Dallas, so they will be slightly encouraged by their performance.
