Coming into Saturday’s race at Phoenix, the final one of the Xfinity Series season, two drivers were big favorites to walk out as winners. Austin Cindric and Chase Briscoe, both of which had won a ton of races throughout the regular season, were favored, while Justin Allgaier and Justin Haley also had a shot.
Briscoe never really had his act together in the afternoon, while Cindric and Allgaier battled and Haley toiled. Eventually, it came down to Allgaier and Cindric, and it was Cindric that won it on a green-white-checkered in overtime due to having superior tires- and a superior car. His dicey three-wide move got him the lead, and he didn’t relinquish it, driving to his sixth victory of the season to win the Championship.
