Clemson, Notre Dame Headline CFB Opening Day

The most uncertain college football season ever is off and underway. Though it technically started weeks ago for some teams, the bigger teams really didn’t get off and running until Saturday when the likes of #1 Clemson and#10 Notre Dame headed onto the field. Both of them, for this season at least, belong to the ACC. That’s nothing new for Clemson, of course, who continued to assert its dominance over the conference by hammering Wake Forest 37-13.

Trevor Lawrence threw for over 350 yards and had three total touchdowns while Travis Etienne had a TD with over 100 yards rushing. The Fighting Irish, meanwhile, won its ACC debut by seeing off Duke by a score of 27-13. Running back Kyren Williams had two touchdowns and over 100 yards rushing and QB Ian Book was solid enough to ensure the win for them to start their potential title bid. There was one rather large upset on the day, with the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns knocking off #23 Iowa State 31-14.
