It is no secret to anyone that the Los Angeles Clippers are sick of being in the shadow of the Lakers. They made some huge moves last summer to bring in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, forming a formidable team that looks like legitimate NBA title contenders. And now, it looks as if they are going to literally move out of the shadows of the purple and gold by moving into their own arena.
Their owner, Steve Ballmer, as had been reported for a while, has officially bought the Forum in Inglewood for around the sum of $400 million. While The Forum will stick around for music, it looks as if a brand new, ‘state-of-the-art’ facility will be built for the Clippers to play in. This is just a further step to underline that the moves made last offseason were about much more than just a short term chance to win some games and titles. This is a long term project, as this is quite clearly evidence of.
