Cotton Bowl: Oklahoma Rolls Past Florida

Jonathan Grant | December 31st, 2020

There will be some people that extend excuses for the Florida Gators after their loss, a 55-20 defeat, on Wednesday night at the hands of the Oklahoma Sooners. They were without their fair share of players, to be fair, and they were facing a team on an absolute hot streak in the Sooners. That hot streak, as you can tell by the final score, didn’t stop at the Cotton Bowl.

Spencer Rattler played one of his best games thus far, accounting for four total touchdowns and 247 yards while running back Rhamondre Stevenson reminded us all why the Sooners used to have such feared backs. He racked up 186 yards on 18 carries- over ten per carry- and also added a touchdown to the mix. Kyle Trask, a Heisman contender, was intercepted three times and finished with just 158 yards on a tough, tough evening. The win saw the #6 Sooners finish the season at 9-2, impressive considering they were 1-2 through two games and look dead and buried. Florida, meanwhile, finished at a snail’s pace, losing their third game in a row after an 8-1 start through nine games.
