Covid-19 might not be the topic that it was over a year ago, but it is still having an impact on the world of sports. On Thursday, it made two such big impacts as it changed plans for both Major League Baseball and Team USA Basketball. The New York Yankees were due to take on the Boston Red Sox, but that game had to be postponed as an outbreak was reported among their camp. Six Bronx Bombers are said to have the illness, with All-Star Aaron Judge among them.

This has, obviously, left several All-Stars in limbo as they will have to be tested. Meanwhile, Team USA Basketball also got some Covid-related news as it emerged that Bradley Beal had tested positive. In addition to being forced to call off an exhibition with Australia, in which the Americans were looking for a measure of revenge, Beal has been totally ruled out of the Olympic Games as a result of the positive test. Now, the Americans, under coach Gregg Popovich, will be hoping that no further players are lost in the run-up to the Games.
