Much has been said about the New York Yankees and the dominance they have shown thus far since the restart of Major League Baseball. But the Chicago Cubs are also playing extremely well, and they underlined that on Tuesday night as they saw off the Kansas City Royals to win 5-4. They moved to 9-2, thanks to a fifth consecutive win, in large part due to the long ball.
Kyle Hendricks also pitched seven solid innings, too, but it was the three homers that ultimately gave them an edge. Jason Heyward, Jason Kipnis, Willson Contreras had bombs, with the latter putting them up 5-2 in the bottom of the eighth. Despite a late comeback attempt by the Royals, they would hang on and take a four-game lead over the Reds at this early stage.
