Game 1 of this season’s NBA Finals is officially in the books, and if the rest of the series goes like this one did, there will not be much competitiveness involved. For the Los Angeles Lakers were absolutely dominant on this night, swatting the Miami Heat aside to win 116-98 in the end. Anthony Davis was the driving force for the victory, scoring 34 points to lead all scorers.
Meanwhile, LeBron James had perhaps his best overall Finals Game 1 game of his career, scoring 25 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, and dishing out nine assists to narrowly miss out on a triple-double. The damage was done in the middle two quarters, with LA outscoring the Heat by 14 in the second and nine in the third to build an insurmountable lead. To make matters worse for the Heat, who were led by Jimmy Butler’s 23 points, they lost two players in the form of Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo. Their statuses are up in the air, but regardless of that outcome, it isn’t looking very good so far for Miami against their former star and co.
