Dickerson’s Big Day Leads Giants To Smashing Victory

Jonathan Grant | September 2nd, 2020

Alex Dickerson might not be a household name, but if Tuesday night is anything to go by, he might be soon. He certainly was on this day, as he helped take the San Francisco Giants to one of the most lopsided wins in the history of the franchise. They won 23-5 over the Rockies in Colorado, and Dickerson finished the game with a ridiculous three home runs, for six RBI’s, and he was able to touch a total of 16 bases in the course of the game.

He almost had a fourth homer, in fact, but he hit a 414-foot double instead in his final at-bat in the ninth. He is now tied for the most total bases in Giants history and is one of just 12 players in Major League history to record five extra-base hits in a single game. The win helped the Giants continue a recent run of strong play as well, with it being their 10th win from the last 13. Despite that, they are still a game under .500, at 18-19, and have a lot of work to do to make it to the playoffs seeing as how both the Dodgers and Padres are within the very same division.
