Just when people were starting to believe that Dustin Johnson was headed downhill, he proved once again he’s still among the best in the world as he went to a victory at the Travelers Championship this weekend at the TPC River Highlands. In so doing, Johnson has grabbed a win in each of the last 13 seasons, though he was forced to wait 15 excruciating months to get this one.
Johnson shot -19 overall for the tournament, seeing off Kevin Streelman by one shot and Will Gordon and Mackenzie Hughes by a pair. It was not his finest day on the links, shooting a 67 at a course that had been very playable all week, but it didn’t matter in the end as no one shot low enough to scare him and cause him major issues. The win was his 21st on the Tour, and the scary part of it is that he only played one really good round. That’s just how it goes sometimes!
