In case you didn’t know, Nikola Vucevic is really good. The downside of that is that his team, the Orlando Magic, just aren’t that good. He routinely has great numbers, and he put that on display once more on Monday night despite his team ultimately falling short to the Dallas Mavericks by a score of 130-124. Typically when the Mavs beat you, it’s due to their European superstar, and that was what occurred on this evening.
Luka Doncic scored 33 points and had ten rebounds along with nine assists in what was a near triple-double performance. Vucevic nearly had one as well, compiling 29 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists. Obviously, though, he wasn’t enough, as the Mavs got a lot of help from Kristaps Porzingis, particularly in the second half. He had 17 points overall, barely putting a foot wrong in the last 24 minutes. Jalen Brunson also contributed in a big way, scoring 17 of 24 points in the second half to help turn the tide and take the Mavericks up to 17-16. It’s their fourth win in their last five and eighth from the last ten, showing they have hit their stride of late. The Magic, meanwhile, fell to 13-22 with a fourth consecutive defeat.
