Luka Doncic and his nation of Slovenia are headed to the Olympics this summer in Tokyo. That was confirmed on Sunday when the Dallas Mavericks’ main man led them there thanks to a 96-85 win over hosts Lithuania. Doncic, who was named MVP of the entire tournament, finished the deciding game with 31 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 assists.
Doncic stated that he didn’t care too much about the award, but he was extremely proud and happy that his nation would be headed to the Olympics for the very first time. They will be in a group with Spain, Japan, and Argentina, meaning they will have their work cut out for them to make noise due to the track record of both Spain and Argentina. But with Doncic around, you just never know. A deep run is possible.
