Durant Returns, Nets Cruise Past Warriors

Jonathan Grant | December 23rd, 2020

It was a very big night on Tuesday as the NBA returned to action, especially for Kevin Durant. Not only was he making his return to the court after over a season of being out, but it was also up against his former team, the Golden State Warriors. A former team that he blames some for the injury that occurred to him. While it’s just one game over the course of a long season, Durant did exact some revenge, putting up 22 points upon his return as his Brooklyn Nets absolutely blew his old team out of the water, winning by a 125-99 score.

Bleacher Report

The first quarter is where the damage was done, with the Nets outscoring the Warriors 25-40 in the opening frame. A big part of that was Kyrie Irving, who ended up finishing the contest as the top scorer with 26 points. Steph Curry, who is going to be quite lonely once again this season if this game is anything to go by, had a double-double with 20 points and ten assists, but it wasn’t nearly enough to help his team stay close here.
