The Golden State Warriors are once again NBA champions. It’s a familiar thing to have heard over the last decade, with the team winning four of their last eight titles, but it’s still quite remarkable to hear after some tumultuous seasons of late. With Klay Thompson’s injuries the star not only went through a dark patch, but the team as a whole experienced a downward trend that could well have lasted a long time.

But his return, as well as some shrewd moves by the front office and the continued excellence of Steph Curry, all propelled the team to a title that was confirmed on Thursday night as they took Game 6 over the Celtics in Boston by a score of 103-90. Prior to the game, the Warriors had failed to clinch a series on the road during this postseason and the C’s had failed to lose at home with their playoff lives on the line, but Curry and co. ensured they wouldn’t have to head home for a decisive Game 7. Curry led the way with 34 points on 12-21 shooting and he made six three-pointers along the way, while Andrew Wiggins added 18 and Jordan Poole chipped in with 15 points off the bench. Boston got 34 from Jaylen Brown and Al Horford recorded a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, but they simply didn’t get enough help from elsewhere and will now need to regroup over the offseason to try and make another run toward the franchise’s next championship.
