It seems like it was only yesterday when it was being written that Joel Embiid had dominated the Boston Celtics. That’s because it practically was. After posting 42 points on them in Boston on Wednesday, he followed that up on Friday night by delivering 38 while also racking up 11 rebounds as the Philadelphia 76ers grabbed a 122-110 win to ‘sweep’ the series. There was no flopping or flailing around here, and he didn’t miss but one of the 15 free throws he was awarded- all of which have been criticisms of the big man in the past.

As such, the Sixers improved to 11-5 on the season as a whole and they ran their record up to 9-1 on their home court. The Celtics, meanwhile, fell to 8-6 overall. They were led in the losing effort by Jaylen Brown’s 42 points. Marcus Smart, one of the biggest criticizers of Embiid recently, also had 20 for them. The Sixers also got 23 from Tobias Harris in the win as their team returned to full fitness with Seth Curry returning from Covid-19. The Celtics have now dropped three games in a row after having the three prior to that postponed.
