Two games took place on Monday night in the NBA Playoffs, and both of them produced 3-1 advantages through four games. One team, though, will clearly be happier to have their lead. That team is the Utah Jazz as they won 120-113 behind Donovan Mitchell’s 30 points in Memphis, putting the Grizzlies on the edge of extinction. The Philadelphia 76ers won’t be all that happy. Not only did they lose 122-114 in DC to see their series with the Washington Wizards extended, but they also lost Joel Embiid to a knee injury.
He’ll have an MRI on Tuesday to see the extent of the damage, and if it comes back poorly, they are in big trouble. Maybe not against the Wizards, but certainly against the better teams in the Eastern Conference. Bradley Beal had 27 points for the Wizards while Russell Westbrook did a little bit of everything, scoring 19 to go along with 14 assists and 21 rebounds. As for the Jazz, they are now headed back home with a 3-1 advantage and will look to close it out. Mitchell was fantastic and Jordan Clarkson delivered 24 points from the bench. Ja Morant had 23 points and 12 assists in the defeat that leaves Memphis on the verge of elimination.
