Friday Night Lights: Iowa, BYU Remain Unbeaten

Jonathan Grant | October 2nd, 2021

Saturday is going to be a big, big day in the world of college football, but before that took place a pair of ranked, unbeaten teams took to the field on Friday night in an attempt to keep their undefeated seasons going. The Quad City Times

Trailing 7-3 after the first quarter, Iowa would go on to force seven turnovers and rack up 41 points in the next two quarters (31 of those coming in the second), as they strolled to an emphatic win. QB Spencer Petras was 21-30 for 259 yards, three passing TD’s, and two on the ground while running back Tyler Goodson had well over 100 all-purpose yards and a receiving touchdown. The BYU Cougars, ranked #13, also improved to 5-0 on the year as they defeated in-state rival Utah State 34-20. Tyler Allgeier did what he typically always does, running all over the Aggies. He racked up 218 yards and three touchdowns on the ground on just 22 carries. That’s over nine yards per carry. It’s hard to beat that, and it’s a big reason why they have already beaten two ranked foes this season. Their trip to ranked Baylor in two weeks could provide us with the answer of how good they are…
