Brayden Point just can’t stop scoring. After Thursday night’s Game 3 victory over the New York Islanders, the Tampa Bay Lightning’s star now has 11 goals in the postseason alone. This one was also more crucial than just giving him yet another goal. It was a winner, too, coming with just 20 seconds to go in the second period and putting his team up 2-1 in the contest and the series as well.
Yanni Gourde had opened the scoring in the first period for the visiting Lightning just after the ten-minute mark. Cal Clatterbuck equalized for the Islanders 17 minutes into the second period, but it wasn’t too long before Point restored the lead and ultimately gave the Lightning the win. Andrei Vasilevskiy was also responsible for that as well, as the goaltender made 27 saves in the win to put his team back in control of their fate.
