Giannis On Fire, Warriors Humbled

Jonathan Grant | April 3rd, 2021

Giannis Antetokounmpo, in the best possible way, is simply a freak of nature. The ‘Greek Freak’ is an apt name given his talents, and he once again showed why he’s earned that nickname on Friday as he helped the Milwaukee Bucks hammer the Portland Trail Blazers 127-109. Giannis finished the outing with 47 points, but the impressive part was that he missed only three shots to get there. It’s not every day that you see someone post an 85% shooting clip, but he did in this particular display.

Jrue Holiday added 22 and also had ten assists. Elsewhere, the Golden State Warriors weren’t nearly as good as that. In fact, they put in one of the worst performances of the entire season in falling to the Toronto Raptors by a humiliating 130-77 score line. There used to be days where 108 points got you a sure-fire victory in the NBA. Nowadays that’s not the case, but when you give up that many in three quarters, there is trouble. Even without Steph Curry, they wouldn’t have expected to lose by more than anyone has all season long. Pascal Siakam led the Raptors’ (who have not exactly been tearing it up of late) charge with 36 points in just three quarters of action. Had it not been for easing up a bit in the fourth, the score could have been even worse, showing just how poor the Warriors are currently.
