Goals Galore As Hurricanes Go Up 2-0, Oilers Dismantle Kings

The NHL’s Playoff offering on Wednesday gave us absolutely no shortage of goals, and it also brought a ton of parity as well. In just one of the four games did we see a team take a 2-0 edge, and that edge now belongs to the Carolina Hurricanes after they smashed the Boston Bruins 5-2. Sebastian Aho scored two goals by the time the second period had just gotten underway and Tony DeAngelo had three assists to make them the only team to go up 2-0 on the night.

In the other games, the theme of goals flying in continued, but the victors was Game 1 were all denied as the series will switch venues with a 1-1 standing. The Tampa Bay Lightning, the two-time defending champs, got a measure of revenge on the road at the Toronto Maple Leafs, downing them 5-3. Victor Hedman had a goal and three assists, and you just can’t count out this team from here. Elsewhere, the Minnesota Wild rebounded after a Game 1 home loss by winning 6-2 over the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday. Joel Erikkson Ek had two goals and an assist and Marc-Andre Fleury made 32 saves, but the headlines were stolen by Kirill Kaprizov’s hat trick. And finally, the nightcap saw the Edmonton Oilers dismantle the LA Kings 6-0. Mike Smith was flawless, making 30 saves in a perfect shutout performance while Evander Kane recorded two goals and an assist and Connor McDavid racked up two assists.
