Green Loses Cool, Rozier Keeps His In Hornets Win

Jonathan Grant | February 21st, 2021

It’s not the first time these words have been written nor will it be the last, but Draymond Green simply lost his cool on Saturday and thus helped conspire to hand the game to the Charlotte Hornets as a result. Of course, there was much, much more to it than just that. Green, after a jump-ball in the middle of the court, tied up with Gordon Hayward only to see the Hornets awarded a timeout.

In quick succession, one of the Golden State Warriors’ key men in Green got a double technical. At that point, they led by two- at 100 to 98. However, that was quickly erased as ‘Scary’ Terry Rozier made both technical free throws to tie the game. That meant that they got the ball back as well, and Rozier came up clutch again, knocking down a long, off-balance shot that gave them a 102-100 win at the buzzer. In total, Rozier finished with 36 points to lead all scorers easily. Steph Curry did not suit up for the Warriors as they fell to 16-15. Meanwhile, the Hornets improved to 14-15 with the victory on their home floor.
