The end of Sunday’s Cup race at Pocono came down to the same two drivers that race 1 on Saturday had. Only this time around, it was the #11 car of Denny Hamlin that finished in front, beating Saturday’s winner Kevin Harvick by a couple of seconds to record a sixth win at the ‘Tricky Triangle.’
Hamlin, like the rest of his counterparts, were also racing against the sun, as darkness threatened to end the 350-mile ‘main event’ early following yet another rain delay. Somehow, though, they completed the last 55 laps without a caution, allowing the race to be completed and for Hamlin to hold off Harvick in similar fashion to the way Harvick had ‘closed’ the job on Saturday. The top five was completed by Erik Jones, Chase Elliott, and Aric Almirola. It had been an extremely busy day for NASCAR, with the association having a tripleheader at Pocono. Brandon Jones, who wrecked on lap one of the Xfinity race, won the Trucks in the morning, and Chase Briscoe captured the flag in the Xfinity as rain wreaked havoc all weekend long.
